Methodology
The awards draw on Lexology's market-leading research, including our Lexology Index (formerly Who's Who Legal) and Client Choice processes, as well as standalone research that harnesses the platform’s unrivalled reach of over 940,000 registered subscribers.
The Lexology research team invites nominations for general counsel, private practice lawyers, consulting experts, clients and other in-house lawyers.
Thousands of individual nominations are received each year, including qualitative assessments of the outstanding work being done by the nominated parties relating to criteria such as effective communication, commercial understanding, legal awareness, team strength and management skills. The research team contacts referees provided by nominees to gain further third-party endorsement of their work and also conducts its own research to identify prominent candidates, assessing thousands of work highlights collected from leading law firms.
Our private practice awards are chosen based on Lexology Index's comprehensive practice area-based research, which collects over 300,000 individual recommendations per year from private practitioners and in-house counsel.
Selection
The aim is to reward winners for demonstrable achievements across the full spectrum of in-house responsibility and private practice excellence.
The research team assesses all the nominations and establishes a shortlist of prominent in-house lawyers and outstanding legal teams across practice area and sector-based categories, from which winners are selected and announced on the night of the awards ceremony. The winners of Lexology Index’s regional firm awards are also revealed.
The selection is based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of the collected data by the Lexology research teams.
